A Boat Ride that Turned into a Reality Check

A Miami Trip

I would never, in a thousand years, imagine myself on a solo trip to a place completely strange to me! Wrong! I have, on several occasions, and even dreamed about it! But hey, I guess, just like most of us, trying new things is scary and means you have to step out of your comfort zone. However, after numerous meetings with myself, I finally confronted my fears and took the trip to Miami, Florida.
I want to stop you right there if you are already thinking, “oooh, this is where she tells us what she did on those trips and how much fun she had, nope! If you wanna check those out, head straight to my stories, very many pictures and videos lol. And now you are wondering, what is this about then if not the trip? It still is, but I am about to get sentimental, so buckle up!

A trip to Star Island

I took a boat ride, the “Pirates of the Caribbean Version,” to check out the Biscayne and Star Islands. Star Island is a popular destination for tourists since it is inhabited by the “rich and famous,” as the locals like to call them. I got to pass by the homes of celebrities like Jeniffer Lopez, Rick Ross, Shaquille O’Neal, Emilio Estefan, and of course, the one and only Sean “Diddy” Combs! I was in awe of what I saw: houses surrounded by palm trees, beautiful architectural designs, boats in front of their houses, and some, like Pitt Bull (Allison Island), even have a rooftop swimming pool despite being surrounded by a massive water body.
The party we passed by—hosted by Jeniffer Lopez’s daughter—sparked a new line of thought. Watching them jet skiing, relaxing on boats, enjoying a bikini party, and blasting music with no worries was eye-opening. Observing from a distance made me reflect: these must be rich kids, enjoying exclusive experiences without a care in the world. It must be nice being rich.

Reflection

That experience stayed with me. Later, I stumbled on a podcast where the host claimed, “We all have 24 hours, make good use of it wisely if you want financial freedom!” I couldn’t help but react—no, it’s not that simple. Yes, everyone technically gets 24 hours, but don’t ignore those who start the day broke, sick, unmotivated, hungry, depressed, or, in most cases, born poor. For many, the game was over before it began. It’s condescending to assume a level playing field that simply doesn’t exist. I have much more to say on this, until next time though….

Remark!

In the end, the best we can do is put our best foot forward, do what we can with what we have, and leave the rest. Happy Sunday!
